Polymer clay is an amazing media. It is vibrant, colorful, and full of surprises. One never knows what one is going to get. Sometimes polymer clay patterns are so beautiful I cannot bear to cut them.
Of course, I do, in the end, because what else can I do with them?
At some point I started taking photos because I did not want all those moments to be lost in time…
Usually it’s the extrudinary technique that folds into such surprisingly delightful polymer clay patterns. But one day I decided to try making a snakeskin pattern, and it turned an unexpectedly beautiful result, as well. I draw my inspiration from everything that surrounds me. And still, sometimes even scrap clay brings unexpected surprises.
The black pattern with white, blue, red, and olive is really not a combination of colors I would normally use. I saw a coat in this color scheme in Rome and fell in love with it. But, even though I had the coat in from of me as an example, I did not such beautiful the clay pattern.
The snake pattern was an experiment. I did try to make a tree ornament for someone who likes snakes.
The little round pin on the last photo was supposed to be a mound of clay to be mixed into a grey mass and used as inside support or bottom layer, not to be seen by anyone. But when I mixed it and rolled it into a strip, I knew I could not create this pattern on purpose.
