Tree Ornaments Class

Tree ornaments class

Take this fun and educational class to make a variety of tree ornaments in an “extrUdinary” technique! Decorate your own tree with hand-made ornaments or treat your friends to a unique gift.

Students will make an assortment of ball ornaments in a unique, colorful color pattern.

The focus of this class is learning how to make unique, multi-colored geometric designs. Students with use a fun tool called an extruder and will learn the basics of making canes – one of the most popular techniques in working with polymer clay.

Students will also learn the basics of working with polymer clay: types of clay, conditioning the clay, curing, and cleaning up.

Please note:

— most ornaments on the photos are covered with 2 coats of glossy varnish with added glitter. A coat of varnish takes at least half an hour to dry. Students can leave ornaments to be varnished and pick them up later or take them home unvarnished. They are really beautiful even without additional gloss. However, I cannot give everyone a container of varnish to take home. If you want to take home some varnish, please make arrangements in advance; I will be happy to provide some at an additional charge. Thank you for understanding. I can also supply the list of ingredients if someone wants to mix the varnish at home; it’s not complicated.

— I do not have a workshop or a class room. Classes take place in my living room (unless arranged otherwise.)

— In this class you will not make ornaments from scratch, but will cover store-bought glass ornaments with polymer clay designs. I will provide 2.5″ round glass ornaments. You will be able to make several ornaments.

Class length: 3 hours.

Age: 15+ (students will use sharp knives; ornaments are made of class and can break.)

Tools and materials will be provided.

Tree ornaments can be made in advance as early as January! However, if you want something less holiday-related, check out this class on polymer clay jewelry (and buttons, too!)
