Jookender Camp 2019 - adult pomegranate class

Two clay classes for Jookender Camp in 2019: polymer clay pomegranates and refrigerator magnets.

Jookender is a nonprofit community organization that serves Russian-speaking Jewish families in the Greater Boston metropolitan area. It supports, strengthens, and sustains Russian speaking Jewish communities in Greater Boston, New England, and the world. Jookender offers many family-friendly programs and activities and is hugely popular.

Jookender is a notable organization in the Russian-speaking community of Greater Boston. I was thrilled when they invited me to teach in their Jookender Camp in 2019. The camp an annual family event. It is located in the grounds of Camp Ramah in Palmer, MA. The families play team games, have access to lake frontage and boats, facilities for classes and campfire.

I taught adults how to make hanging pomegranate decorations. It was a fun class just in time for Rosh ha-Shana – pomegranate is one of the symbols of the Jewish New Year. The very cute cat’s head was purely due to the flight of fantasy of one of the participants. A never object to my students straying from the original idea, and it was a very nice cat, besides.

And the in second class we made refrigerator magnets with very young kids and a few teen volunteers, who also thought working with clay was fun.
